I've been somewhat busy, so I've not read in such a long time, it was nice to read a few chapters tonight and escape into Claire and Jamie's world again.
Dougal receives word that the Duke of Sandringham is visiting Castle Leoch. The Duke just may be able to pardon Jamie for the crime of a murder he didn't commit, a murder that was apparently committed by Captain Randall, yet pinned on Jamie. Being back at Castle Leoch, Jamie is reminded that his marriage entitles him to a percentage of the earnings from rent collecting and is keen to get his hands on that money which equates to 20 pounds a quarter. Claire sees Laoghaire back at the castle and finds that she is not only jealous of the girl but also conflicted about her deep feelings for Jamie and for the first time is faced with the thought of losing him when and if she makes it back to the stone circle. Jamie surprises Claire by using his share of the rent by purchasing a wedding ring for her. It is a wide silver band, decorated in a Highland interlace style with a small and delicate Jacobean thistle bloom carved into the center of each link.
